Discussion:
about those trees...

Hi all,

The board has authorized the initial commits for our tree to begin this
week. It will be derived nearly in whole from Gentoo, comprised of the
~100 base packages that make up their "stage3". Additional packages
will be added as dedicated maintainers are found for them, and I will
explain what this mean in more depth in a follow up this afternoon.

In order to facilitate immediate development, Repoteus has been put on
hold for a bit, and several more compromises made in our previously
established plans. For the time being, we will continue to use a single
tree for all architectures, for reasons about to be made apparent:

I must regretfully annouce the (hopefully non-permenant) departure of a
few of developers, notably including Jon Nall and Mark Guertin. These
individuals indicated the CLA was a key part of their leaving, and my
last post to the main zynot mailing list shows the board acknowledges
and respects this community sentiment.

As such, the initial tree will not offer the new and improved Porteus,
instead relying on Gentoo's Portage. I hope that the removal of the CLA
requirement and the commencement of our development will eventually
regain their faith and interest.

For the rest of you, stay tuned, the real fun is just about to begin.

Cheers,

Zach
