Hi,
well, I just wrote a rather lengthy mail regarding web development.
Then I deleted it and started anew. This is the result:
I perceive a few problems with said topic. First and foremost, nobody
seems bold enough to step up and take responsibility for the project.
The problem seems to be that either people don't know what would be
expected of them, or that they have a vague idea but fear they will
not have adquate designing skills (being "natural born bad designers",
as every techie seems to believe).
As to the first aspect, read
http://forums.zynot.org/viewtopic.php?t=229 as well as
http://wiki.zynot.org/zynot/moin.cgi/ZynotWebDev
There are already lots of ideas, and people awaiting your input.
Now, for the second aspect: Designing is not what people believe it to
be. As zwelch has stated so many times before, it all comes down to
giving "the specs". For you, that means simply one thing: Tell us what
you expect the zynot.org site to give you. Narrow it down to specific
aspects, if you like, or give general ideas, it does not matter.
You will be astonished to see that after every idea has been gathered,
a design will have naturally emerged to meet the requirements.
Of course, votes will have to be held about certain features or
issues, and decisions will be made about what can be implemented in
the short run and what has to be delayed.
But it all starts now, with your ideas. Respond to this mail, if you
wish, post in the forums or the wiki if you feel more comfortable
there, but please, do something. The project needs your input.
